16 THINGS YOU LEARN FROM KEY CLUB
During your time with Key Club, hopefully you’ll learn more than just the Key Club pledge. Here are 16 other takeaways, such as how to work as a team or make a good pun about keys.
Key Club will teach you about:
- Inclusiveness. Key Club exists outside of your school. It’s in 35 countries around the globe and spread across more than 5,000 schools. Key Club has more than 270,000 members from all walks of life. Together, you all share a passion for service.
- Puns. We don’t make keys, but we help you open doors and because of that, we have the key to help unlock your true potential. Aren’t puns about keys the best?
- Food. Food is basically a fool-proof way to make people show up to an event.
- Failing. Sometimes, no matter how much hard work you’ve put into a project and how solid of a back-up plan you have, some plans will still fail.
- Teens. Not all teenagers are lazy and selfish. Some have a passion and heart to serve.
- Celebrities. Some celebrities had pretty normal high school experiences and were in Key Club just like you, such as Jensen Ackles and Tom Cruise.
- Teamwork. When you team up with people who share the same passion as you, you can accomplish great things, such as helping to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus through The Eliminate Project.
- Happiness. They say you can choose your own mood, so it’s pretty awesome that Key Clubbers always choose to “feel good.” Is it possible to even say that cheer without a smile on your face?
- Communication. If you can’t convey your vision to your team, your team members won't all work toward the same goals. Clear communication is key to leading any group to success.
- Opportunity. It’s never soon too to help change the world. Pick a service project close to your heart and run with it. You’ll have the support of your club behind you.
- Leadership. You can be a leader. You can also be a great follower. You can help build people up and be there for each other.
- Confidence. Key Club will teach you how to go outside of your comfort zone through division rallies and leadership conferences. It will teach you to be brave and be the best version of yourself.
- Cheers. So many cheers will be stuck in your head for days and days.
- Delegating. One of the most difficult tasks is learning how to delegate and to trust someone else to play an important role in the success of a project or event.
- Family. The people you call “family” no longer are just the people who live in your house or share a last name with you. You develop strong family bonds with the whole Kiwanis family.
- Caring. Lastly, Key Club will instill into you our motto: “Caring—our way of life.” Hopefully years from now, that will still be your way of life, too.
